Rights Respecting Schools
Rouge Bouillon School are a UNICEF Rights Respecting School, with a Bronze Award. This means that we are embedding the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child within all that we do, from our curriculum content to our corridor displays.
In September 2025, we were judged to have met all the criteria to meet the standard for Rights Committed, and we were awarded our Rights Respecting School Bronze award. We are currently working hard to achieve a ‘Silver’ status. To achieve the Silver Award, we must show thorough progress towards embedding children’s rights in our school policies, practises and ethos. This also requires reaching out to our wider community and spreading the Rights Respecting message as much as possible. We are aiming to achieve our Silver Award in Autumn 2026.
In School, we are focussing on two Articles of the UNCRC each half term to develop the children’s knowledge and understanding of their Rights. These are
Autumn 1 – Article 2 No Discrimination
Article 29 Aims for Education
Autumn2 – Article 6 – Life, survival and development
Article 24 Food, clothing and a safe home
Spring 1 – Article 7 Name and nationality
Article 30 Minority culture, language and religion
Spring 2 – Article 24 Health, water, food and environment
Article 28 Access to education
Summer 1 – Article 17 Access to information
Article 31 Rest, play, culture and arts
Summer 2 – Article 13 Sharing thoughts freely
Article 4 Making rights real
We look forward to sharing the next steps on the Rights Respecting Journey with you.
